Andrea’s Gift is Yorkshire’s leading brain tumour charity, providing funds for brain tumour research and patient support.
By working closely with the clinicians who treat brain tumour patients in areas of neuro surgery and neuro oncology, Andrea’s Gift feel that that they have a good understanding of the work needed to improve the experience for everyone, and provide a level of support for patients and carers in their very personal battles with the disease.
In addition, Andrea’s Gift raise funds to develop Yorkshire’s first brain tumour research lab, based at the Leeds Institute for Molecular Medicine, supporting a high-level research team who will work on long-term paediatric and adult brain tumour research projects.
Andrea’s Gift aim to raise £1m in 2010, having raised over £900,000 so far, please help Andrea’s Gift to achieve this target and help and support brain tumour patients in Yorkshire.
Andrea’s Gift’s vision is clear and simple – to find a cure for a devastating disease that affects so many people.
Around 5,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with a primary brain tumour each year and around 700 of them are
from Yorkshire and receive treatment through the Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
Within that number, around 25 are
children – brain tumours kill more of our children than any other cancer.
Carol Robertson who is the founder of this wonderful charity has been an amazing support and help to us in the organisation of Caitlin’s Fund. She has offered advice and support where needed which has been key in helping us work towards achieving our goals. Carol is a real inspiration and we hope that we can raise a significant amount of money for such a worthy cause.
